Project: New Development at Marina Bay Sands
Location: Marina Bay Sands in Singapore
Architects: Safdie Architects
Collaborators: Aedas
Populous: Arup, BECA
PLandscape: ICN Design
Clients: Marina Bay Sands
Cost: USD $8 Billion
Size: 2,602,326 sq ft | 241,764 sq m

The new development at Marina Bay Sands includes two main components: a 570-suite luxury hotel tower featuring a dynamic, multi-level 76,000 square-foot Skyloop; and a podium that serves as a bustling hotspot for business, entertainment, and cultural exchange.
The new development will house a 15,000-seat arena that will raise the bar for live entertainment in Asia and approximately 200,000 square feet of premium MICE spaces.  The venue will also be integrated with new and existing developments within the Marina Bay precinct for greater efficiency and pedestrian connectivity, providing direct access to Bayfront MRT station and linkways between Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay.
The 55-storey hotel tower will stand rotated at a 45-degree angle with its twin wings curving outward, offering panoramic views of both Marina Bay and the Singapore Strait.
The lower Skyloop interweaves several points of public access, including an observatory, destination restaurants and lush rooftop gardens. The hulls of the Skyloop will be clad in shimmering metal panels akin to fish scales, running in opposite directions between the lower and upper platforms to add a kinetic quality to the skyline—reflecting and refracting sunlight throughout the day and illuminated from within at night.
Situated adjacent to the hotel tower, the podium serves as a bustling hotspot for business, entertainment and cultural exchange. At its core is a 15,000-seat state-of-the-art arena, poised to host sporting events, concerts and large-scale live events.

Seamlessly connected by an elevated walkway system, the podium will also be home to approximately 200,000 square feet of conference and exhibitions venues, a multi-use public lobby, public gardens, and a variety of retail and dining offerings.
